The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) reflected in the "2030 Sustainable Development Agenda" adopted by world leaders at the historic UN summit held in September 2015 officially entered into force on January 1, 2016. In recent years, Azerbaijan has demonstrated its commitment to achieving the 2030 Agenda. In 2016, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed a decree on the establishment of the National Coordinating Council for Sustainable Development, which acts as a key partner for the coordination of UN support to the government of Azerbaijan. At the same time, Azerbaijan was one of the first countries to implement the MAPS (Acceleration, Acceleration and Policy Support for the 2030 Agenda) mission, which reflects concrete policy and programming steps that can be taken to accelerate the SDGs at the national level, and the country's experience was presented at the 2018 Sustainable Development He presented at the Baku Forum. The UN provides ongoing support to strengthen the country's statistical data capacity to collect quality statistics with a focus on leaving no one behind. The UN is also making special efforts to engage various groups, including the private sector, the media, members of parliament and the public, to promote the SDGs.
